History
Welcome to Pohon Inn — a themed hotel that invites you to stay inside a giant “tree” right in the heart of Batu City. Pohon Inn was developed by Jawa Timur Park Group (JTP Group) under the leadership of its founder, Paul Sastro Sendjojo, and officially opened in 2010 alongside the launch of Jawa Timur Park 2 (JTP2) in Oro-Oro Ombo, Batu. Development of this 15-hectare area actually began back in late 2008, as part of a bigger vision: to create an integrated destination where nature and wildlife education tourism meet genuinely comfortable accommodation.
We were deliberately built between two other JTP2 icons, Museum Satwa and Batu Secret Zoo, so families staying with us can explore every attraction on foot — no need to drive or fight through Batu’s busy main roads.
Why a tree? Because we believe a building can tell a story too. Pohon Inn’s exterior was designed to resemble a giant tree trunk with natural wood texture and sprawling branches, following the principle of biophilic experiential design that blends man-made structures with the surrounding landscape. It’s a choice that echoes JTP2’s own spirit of wildlife conservation — the moment you step into the hotel grounds, it feels like walking into a fantasy world tucked inside a tropical forest. That same idea carries through into every room with a “wild exterior, chill interior” concept: tiger-print furniture, botanical ornaments, and animal sculptures paired with modern, comfortable, star-rated accommodation, refreshed with a touch of tropical style that keeps Pohon Inn feeling warm, iconic, and welcoming for families and kids alike.
The Experience
Pohon Inn offers 71 rooms across three categories — Superior, Deluxe, and Executive — each fitted with air conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities, and fast WiFi, all wrapped in the cool mountain air of Batu. Deluxe rooms even come with a balcony overlooking the zoo grounds, so don’t be surprised if you wake up — or fall asleep — to birdsong, monkey calls, and the distant roar of wild animals. It’s an experience you won’t find at just any hotel.
At the heart of the stay is Jungle Fast Food, a restaurant built around a wooden floor that rotates slowly a full 360 degrees throughout your meal, letting you take in the view from every angle without ever feeling dizzy. The dining area is separated from the enclosures of African lions, leopards, and cheetahs from Batu Secret Zoo by nothing more than thick, secure glass walls — so breakfast or lunch comes with some genuinely thrilling company. To round it off, the Jungle Live Show runs several times a day (12:00, 14:00, 18:00, and 20:00 local time), complete with thunder sound effects, dramatic lighting, and interactive animatronic wildlife.
Guests also enjoy a two-day park pass privilege, letting you spread your visits to Batu Secret Zoo, Museum Satwa, and the nearby Eco Green Park (just about 70 metres away) across two days at a more relaxed pace — ideal for families with young children or elderly travelers. Add in friendly staff, quick check-in, and responsive in-room maintenance, and a stay at Pohon Inn feels like a well-planned holiday in itself — though staying in the middle of a zoo does mean making peace with a bit of nighttime wildlife chatter now and then.
More Than a Place to Sleep
Pohon Inn isn’t just somewhere to rest after a day at JTP2 — it’s part of the adventure itself. From the giant tree architecture that greets you at the entrance, to rooms that border the wild, to dinners served on a rotating floor with lions roaring just beyond the glass, every corner is designed to make guests feel truly immersed in Batu’s tropical forest. We invite you to come, stay, and take home a story you won’t find at any other hotel.
